This month, we’re pleased to spotlight Tommy Meyerson, Executive Director of our Oak Ridge office! Since joining the Giving Home team in November, Tommy has brought passion, purpose, and a deep sense of service to everything he does.
Before stepping into his current role, Tommy worked in a variety of different industries, including many impactful years as a military officer. His leadership background includes commanding a scout sniper platoon, serving as a special operations intelligence officer, and assisting a commanding officer in Syria. These experiences helped shape his mission-driven mindset and solidified his commitment to serving others — and later, these same values eventually led him to the healthcare industry.
Tommy loves that his role as Executive Director blends patient care, strategic thinking, and team leadership. His days are full of variety — whether it’s visiting patients and caregivers at home, supporting his team at local outreach events, or building key partnerships with healthcare professionals. At the heart of it all is his passion for creating a dynamic office culture.
“The team here is such a fun group of people,” Tommy shares. From themed office days like Twin Day or Show-and-Tell, to strategic conversations about patient outreach and care, Tommy thrives in an environment where collaboration is encouraged. He values the diverse strengths and personalities of his coworkers that come together to make the team stronger than any one individual.
Leading the small but rapidly growing Oak Ridge office has challenged Tommy in new ways, from hiring and budgeting to long-term strategic planning. He embraces it all, saying, “It’s been really fun and exciting to work at Giving during this season.” Tommy appreciates that Giving Home’s culture and values are not just words, but actions that are lived out every day.
One particularly memorable moment for Tommy happened during an outreach event at a local restaurant. A woman and her husband approached him, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the care they received when no other company could help. She hugged Tommy on the spot and praised the entire team for their work — a small example of the powerful impact they make every day. He wants to encourage other Giving team members: “You truly make a difference in the lives of our patients and families. No matter your role, you matter.”
Tommy loves being a husband and dad to his wife and three children, ages 4, 2, and 6 months. When he’s not working, you might find him hiking, camping, hunting, or spending time with friends. He’s also currently a Military Reservist and actively involved in his church.
Thank you, Tommy, for your leadership, service, and heart. We’re lucky to have you on the team!
