Employee Spotlight: Mambo Munoz

This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Mambo Munoz, a dedicated Patient Coordinator in our Albuquerque office. Since joining the team in September 2024, Mambo has brought a unique blend of operational know-how, collaborative thinking, and genuine compassion to Giving Home Health Care.

With a background as a civil construction Superintendent, Mambo once managed large-scale projects like highways, residential roads, and drainage systems. While construction allowed him to impact communities physically, working with patients offered a chance to make a direct difference in people’s lives — especially those facing serious health conditions and long-term exposure to things like radiation or asbestos.

With support from his wife, Esmeralda Munoz, and close friend Whitnee Johnson (both part of the Giving Home team), Mambo navigated the shift from construction’s document-based systems to the software-driven world of healthcare. He soon realized how much his management and mitigation skills transferred seamlessly into his new responsibilities as a Patient Coordinator.

Today, Mambo coordinates everything from prior authorization letters and medical equipment requests to patient luncheons and appreciation events. He works closely with billing teams and HME specialists, while also maintaining communication with patients, nurses, and home health aides to ensure everyone stays aligned. Mambo takes pride in being able to thrive under pressure and keep things moving efficiently. He sees his position as central to the overall process, helping bring people, tasks, and teams together to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

Mambo’s role often takes him on the road, traveling nearly 3,000 miles a month to visit patients, some as far as four hours away. Exploring the small towns, pueblos, and beautiful landscapes beyond Albuquerque has become one of his favorite parts of the job, and he values being able to offer face-to-face interactions with patients in these areas. In addition to his responsibilities inside and outside of the office, Mambo also plays a role in training new hires. He’s passionate about sharing knowledge with others to give them the tools they need to succeed.

What does Mambo enjoy most about his work? The collaborative team environment. He shares that there is a culture of support among his colleagues, where solving problems and helping patients isn’t just a task, but a shared mission. One moment that stands out for him was when a patient’s health rapidly declined, and the team jumped into action to arrange 24-hour care within hours. It was a reminder of how seamlessly everyone works together, and how deeply committed the Giving Home team is to the people they serve.

Outside of work, life is just as busy and fulfilling. Mambo and Esmeralda are raising two young children under two and have recently taken on a yard renovation together — turning a blank slate into something beautiful. He’s also an avid collector of timepieces, including favorites like his Rolex Submariner and Rolex Datejust Wimbledon Dial.

We’re lucky to have you on the team, Mambo. Thank you for being such a valued part of the Giving Home family!
