Employee Spotlight: Alisha Rottger

This month we’re excited to spotlight Alisha Rottger, who serves as a Physician Liaison in our St. Louis, Missouri, office!

Alisha joined the Giving Home team almost two years ago, bringing with her six years of involvement with the EEOICPA program and over a decade of caregiving experience. Having grown up in a union family, she has now built a career in helping others – including advocating for and building relationships with former nuclear workers in need of care.

On any given week, Alisha is responsible for attending doctor appointments with Giving Home patients, educating their physicians on the EEOICPA program, and obtaining signed causation letters to begin the claims processes. Once a patient is approved and starts receiving in-home health care, she also follows up to make sure they are satisfied with their service and doing well.

Alisha’s favorite part of her job is the moments of connection she gets to have with patients, from sitting in a waiting room to regular check in calls. She recalls a memorable story of a patient who she worked alongside to receive his White Card and later, home health care service. It was truly a full circle moment for Alisha, as the patient’s daughter-in-law was able to be trained and compensated by Giving for the care she was already providing. As a former family caregiver herself, Alisha knows how wonderful it can be to have someone come in and help, and now she gets to be part of helping that happen for others.

Alisha appreciates her team and Giving’s collaborative company culture, specifically calling out how everyone takes care of each other and helps wherever needed. Using the DiSC assessment, she has built a deeper appreciation for the differences between herself and her team members and is able to leverage this tool to communicate more effectively. Though she is naturally shy, Alisha’s time at Giving has also helped her step outside her comfort zone and confidently navigate more extroverted situations.

Outside of work, Alisha is active in her church and feels grateful to spend a lot of quality time with her husband and three adult children. A self-proclaimed “indoorsy kind of gal,” she also likes to sew and read. Most recently, she has been rediscovering some old favorites, including “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “The Color Purple.”

When asked what motivates her in her role, Alisha expressed her appreciation for getting to “do something [she] loves.” She feels rewarded in her work and can see herself being involved in this program until she retires. Thank you, Alisha, for the heart you put into your work!
