Meet Our Leadership Team

Alan Marks

As Chief Compliance Officer, Alan oversees the corporate compliance and privacy program at Giving Home, ensuring senior leaders, management, team members, and delegated entities comply with the letter and spirit of all local, state, and federal laws, rules and guidelines, including:

• Enforcing Giving Home’s Code of Conduct and Ethics
• Directing all compliance-related activities and investigations
• Interacting with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, and governing boards on compliance initiatives
• Chair and lead the Executive Compliance Committee and various sub-committees

Prior to joining Giving Home, Alan served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Athletics Counsel at the University of Texas System where he effectively guided institutions through the process of analysis, assessment, planning, and navigation for complex policy, compliance, and legal matters. In his role as Athletics Counsel, Alan consulted with and advised the athletic directors and athletics compliance officers to ensure that each academic institution was in compliance with all university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing the intercollegiate athletics operations at each campus.

Alan was also an attorney at Thompson & Knight, LLP, where he represented hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, and other healthcare entities in relation to federal and state fraud abuse, corporate practice of medicine, compliance audits, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Alan earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University and a Juris Doctorate from Tulane Law School. He obtained his Certified Professional Compliance Officer certification (Medical Compliance) from the AAPC. Alan is also a Fellow of the Texas Bar Association.
